Why Sargo was built
A real problem, a practical solution, and a commitment to billiard hall operators.
The Problem
For years, I watched billiard halls operate the same way they did 20 years ago.
Table time tracked on whiteboards or by hand
Session billing calculated manually, with disputes over how long each session lasted
Revenue tracked in spreadsheets that nobody really understands
No real-time visibility into what's happening on the floor right now
Staff spending time on paperwork instead of helping customers
Difficulty knowing which tables are profitable and which ones are underperforming
The worst part wasn't the inefficiency. It was the lost revenue. Every disputed session, every manual billing error, every hour of staff time spent on tracking instead of customer service—it all added up.
And there were no good solutions. Generic POS systems didn't understand how pool halls work. Spreadsheets weren't reliable. Manual systems were the only option.
Building the Solution
I'm a software engineer with 5+ years of professional experience building SaaS and operational systems. I spent 2 years at Guerilla 360 and am currently at Brandmovers (3+ years), where I've led several major projects. My focus has always been on operational software—tools that solve real business problems and make work simpler.
When I looked at the billiard hall problem, it seemed obvious: build software specifically for how pool halls actually operate. Not a generic POS bent to fit. Not a spreadsheet pretending to be a business tool. Desktop software built from scratch around tables, sessions, and revenue.
Sargo started with one core requirement: it had to work offline. Most billiard halls can't rely on internet, and they shouldn't have to depend on someone else's cloud servers to run their business. So Sargo runs on your own computer, works without internet, and keeps your data on your hardware.
Everything else followed from that foundation: live table timers, session billing that's accurate to the centavo, real-time reporting, reservation management, and staff controls. All designed for the specific workflows of a billiard hall.
Our Commitment
Sargo isn't a side project or a venture-backed experiment. It's built by someone who understands operational software and is committed to the billiard hall industry.
